Viticulture pioneers in the Waitaki Valley
Collectively farming 20 hectares of grapes spread across 4 vineyards, our whānau (family) are pioneers of viticulture in this valley. They first determined viability in the late 1990’s for high quality, premium cool climate wines grown on the famous Waitakian Limestones on the southern bank of this significant awa (river).
Whakapapa
The Sinnott whānau (family) are descendants of Tuwharetoa through our Kuia Ranamiria Kapereira, her father Hamana Tukorehu Kaperiera and his father Tukorehu Koanau. His mother Pikau Koanau and her father Haimona Te Heu Heu too. From here our whakapapa traces back to our eponymous ancestors Tuwharetoa, Ngatoroirangi and the Arawa Waka.
