A World First
TUKU is the world’s first Māori winemakers collective, bringing together awarded Māori wine companies based on their shared values of the land, family and hospitality, together offering a wide range of premium varietals from the most famous wine growing regions of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Diverse Origins
The TUKU collective is made up of Māori owned, NZ-owned wine companies: Te Pā Family Vineyards, Tiki Wine & Vineyards, Steve Bird Wines and Kuru Kuru Wines / Tarras Vineyards. Owners Haysley MacDonald, Royce McKean, Steve Bird, Hayden Johnston, and industry consultant Jeff Sinnott, bring together, and are complemented by, diverse iwi origins, from Tauranga Takitimu Waka and Rotorua-Te Arawa Waka in the north to Ngati Awa, Ngai Tahu and Ngati Tuwharetoa in the south.

We take our name from the Māori art of tukutuku weavings
Tukutuku are the decorative wall panels that were once part of the traditional wall construction used inside meeting houses. The making of the panels is a significant social event and the weavers work in pairs from either side, passing the strand of harakeke to one another.
Just like the members of TUKU - working together to spread the word about our wonderful Māori wines around the world.
"Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini."
"My success is not mine alone, as it was not the work of one, but the contribution of the collective." Māori Proverb
We stand for unity
