Tiki Wine & Vineyards certified regenerative, a first for New Zealand

TUKU member Tiki Wine & Vineyards is New Zealand's first Certified Regenerative vineyard and winery, independently verified by A Greener World (AGW), the world's largest regenerative certifier.

The certification covers the whole 364-hectare Waiata Vineyard estate in Waipara, North Canterbury. AGW measures change across seven areas: soil, water, air, biodiversity, infrastructure, animal welfare and social responsibility.

For the McKean whānau, it is a continuation rather than a new direction. Kaitiakitanga has guided how they farm since the first vines went in, and the certification follows six years of work: cover crops and native plantings, sheep grazing through the rows, compost made from grape marc, and far fewer inputs on the land.

"Sustainability maintains. Regeneration improves."

Vintage 2026 is the first Tiki vintage to carry the certification.
